The Royal Borough of Windsor and Maidenhead uses the Causeway one.network Map and Traffic Management module to plot traffic management plans and road closures regularly, and for large scale events.
A long history of collaboration
The Royal Borough of Windsor and Maidenhead joined forces with one.network all the way back in 2012. Our one.network map and Traffic Management module helps the council plot traffic management plans and road closures throughout the borough, particularly for its many large events – such as the Royal Ascot, the Windsor Triathlon, and of course royal events.
Those include Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s Royal Wedding in 2018, and that of Princess Eugenie and Jack Brooksbank later in the same year. The former drew crowds of more than 3,000 people, and both necessitated high security and extremely detailed route planning.
Key Benefits

"Until you navigate such a massive event you don’t realise how much a visual tool actually helps. one.network has saved so many of us so much time and unnecessary work. Anyone who is not using one.network is wasting their own resources. It’s the perfect tool."
Network Coordinator at the Royal Borough of Windsor and Maidenhead Council
Event planning on a national scale
To ensure the Royal Wedding ran perfectly, Windsor had to guarantee that every road was carefully managed, that the town centre was kept clear of traffic, and that the Royal couples’ routes into the town were kept private. Traffic management plans were created six months before the event and rehearsal.
Aggie Fedyna, the Royal Borough of Windsor and Maidenhead’s Network Co-ordinator for Highways and Transport, used one.network's map and Traffic Management module to plot and communicate plans with the police, partner agencies, and the Royal Household.
External access to Windsor had to be restricted except for in emergencies, creating huge coordination and stakeholder communication challenges. But thanks to using one.network, Aggie and her team successfully navigated the event without so much as a bump in the road.
