Overview
In Causeway one.network version e2.38.0, we’re excited to introduce some improvements aimed at enhancing both the accessibility and functionality of the platform. This includes developments for the Causeway one.network map, our Traffic Management module and our Route Manager solution. Let’s take a look at these enhancements in more detail:
Causeway one.network Map
Emergency works visibility for all users
Emergency and urgent works will now be displayed on the map for all users, even before the permits have been approved. This includes operational users and members of the public. With this improvement, highway authorities, works promoters and all other stakeholders will be aware of critical works sooner and highway authorities can communicate emergency disruptions to the public earlier, increasing road safety and awareness.
New Permit Status filter: “Under Assessment”
We’re adding a new filter under the Permit Status filter category called “Under Assessment”, aligning with the latest updates in Street Manager. This will enable you to easily filter and manage permits that are under assessment from the Advanced Filters panel.
Traffic Management
Enhanced Automatic Diversion Routes for decision-making
Last year, we launched an intelligent diversion engine known as Automatic Diversion Routes or ADR. This tool is located within our Traffic Management module and presents you with a list of optimal diversion routes based on your plotted road closure. It factors in everything from road class and planned roadworks, to schools, bridges, weight restrictions and more. It highlights all potential Diversion Risks that could impact your choice, ensuring you can make smart, informed planning decisions.
We’ve listened to your feedback and have upgraded the ADR functionality to include user warnings when ADRs travel on lower-class roads than planned diversion routes or intersect with road closures.
Additionally, road closures are now prioritised in the ADR conflict list, ensuring critical issues are immediately visible.
We hope these improvements will support your decision-making when planning safe and effective diversion routes.
Accessibility improvements
We’ve made significant accessibility improvements in our Traffic Management module, to enhance usability for users with disabilities. Screen reader labels and keyboard navigation for menus, calendars, and dropdowns have been optimised, ensuring that all users, regardless of their abilities, can intuitively access key features. These enhancements are available in both the UK and US, reflecting our commitment to inclusive design.
Document and template segregation by module
Visibility of templates and documents will now be restricted to their respective modules. For example, Traffic Management documents and templates will not be visible in the Route Manager documents section and vice versa. This change improves organisation within the platform, enabling users to work more efficiently and focus on relevant materials without unnecessary distractions.
Route Manager
Bus operator filter for email alerts
Route Manager, our bus route management solution, empowers highway authorities and bus operators with automatic alerts about clashes between roadworks and bus routes, helping minimise disruption and delays to services.
With this update, Route Manager will now allow you to tailor email alerts with a filter, so that you can receive updates specifically about clashes between roadworks and bus routes for your selected bus operators. This enhancement ensures you can stay informed about upcoming disruptions and how they will impact the bus operators and services in your region, allowing you to better work together to proactively adjust schedules and maintain service reliability.
Date-based clashes filter
We know that local authorities often have multiple team members managing permit approvals across regions. While individual permits may have a minimal impact on journey times, the cumulative effect of roadworks can create substantial delays.
That’s why we’re introducing a new filter that allows you to view all roadworks and route clashes within a selected time frame. With this tool, permit approvers and route managers will gain a clear view of all potential disruptions—visible in the Clashes tab in the bus route view and on the map—supporting informed decision-making for more seamless route planning.
That’s everything for this release! If you have any questions about anything included, please contact help.desk@causeway.com.
