Overview
We’re excited to introduce enhancements we've made to our Route Manager solution. Let’s take a look at them in more detail:
Causeway one.network Route Manager
Emergency clash alerts, daily digest & bus timetables
Route Manager, our bus route management solution, helps highway authorities and transport operators reduce disruption by providing clear visibility of roadworks and their impact on services.
With this update, Route Manager now includes real-time emergency clash alerts, ensuring you’re notified immediately when high-severity works begin, and a daily clash digest that summarises recent permit changes in a single, easy-to-scan email.
We’ve also added bus timetables directly to bus stop callouts, giving you instant access to first and last services, weekday and weekend schedules, and frequency patterns. These enhancements provide better visibility of expected services, helping you plan around disruptions and keep journeys moving smoothly.
Emergency clash alerts
- Real-time alerts are triggered per individual clash involving an emergency permit with high severity starting the same day.
- Alerts are only sent to users who have enabled Emergency Alerts in their settings.
- Emails use the standard Route Manager clash alert template.
- Why: To ensure transport operators and planners are notified immediately of critical disruptions that may affect services.

Daily clash digest
- A once-daily email (sent at 8am local time) summarises all clashes where permit attributes (status/dates) have changed in the past 24 hours.
- Updates include clear labels such as “Dates updated” or “Status changed” for easy scanning.
- Users can configure how far ahead in time the digest should consider clashes:
- 30 days → includes clashes with permits starting within the next 30 days.
- 60 days → includes clashes with permits starting within the next 60 days.
- 90 days → includes clashes with permits starting within the next 90 days.
- Off → disables the digest entirely.
- Why: To provide a consolidated view of recent disruptions, filtered to the user’s planning horizon, while reducing unnecessary noise.

Bus timetables in Route Manager
- Bus timetables are now imported weekly from the Bus Open Data Service (GTFS format) and displayed directly in the bus stop callout.
- Users can view:
- First and last bus times.
- Scheduled times or frequency-based intervals.
- Separate schedules for weekdays, Saturdays, and Sundays (when available).
- Grouped views by hour, with the ability to expand into exact times.
- Why: To give users and transport managers better visibility of expected services, supporting journey planning and assessing the impact of roadworks on public transport.
